She has hystiocytic ulcerative colitis. Basically, it’s an overgrowth of E. coli in the intestines that infiltrates the wall of the intestines causing ulcers and watery diarrhea with blood. It took a lot of money and time to diagnose her correctly. She is technically in remission now and has just come off her meds. She is now having normal stools, but she still has a little bit of poo sometimes that has to be cleaned off her little rear. HUC is something that she can relapse with. Her treatment was a month of enrofloxacin, which is an antibiotic. She’s on E/N fiber balance food and probably should be kept on that. The expensive part should be done, but you will still need to make sure your vet is knowledgeable enough to work with you on this matter. It’s not something that’s common. Please let me know if you have any questions. She’s a GREAT dog, but she might be a little high maintenance in the health department. We are hopeful it’s over and done with for the course of her lifetime, but we can’t promise it. She is just shy of 2 years old and is as sweet as can be! She really loves to play and gets along with other dogs. Please remember, Miss Karissa is still young, so give her some time to settle in to her new home. We can not promise that any of our dogs do not chew on things or are housebroken so please stay committed to giving her kind and consistent training. Her adoption fee is $750 Apply Today!
